Road Trip to Lakeville
Me & S took a road trip to Lakeville, Connecticut for a show in honor of Martin Luther King Jr Day. Great crowd for the Sunday night show, then Monday morning I ran a couple of writing workshops for like a million high school students. This is my second time at the Hotchkiss School – and both time’s were simply outstanding. I can’t wait to go back there! Photo recap below. (All photos taken by S except the one she’s in.)

Isn’t this what people think of when they hear New England?

Yay for Sichuan Gourmet! Giles–I work at Hotchkiss and so enjoyed your performance and appreciate the time you spent with us. I hail from Framingham and lived in Boston for a number of years; fun to see you stopped in my hometown on your way back to the city!

Hey I’m a Hotchkiss student and I thought your slam poetry and your workshops were really great. You brought a lot to those two days.
Wicked pissah.

PS: your blue shoes were sweeet.

Hey, I’m a Hotchkiss student too. I’m the Taiwanese girl who performed on-stage during the first workshop. Thank you for the amazing performance – it was so inspiring and liberating for us to see you perform spoken word. I’m one of the co-president of the slam poetry club on campus. If possible, I’m wondering if there would be ways for us to keep in touch with you through e-mail and perhaps get some suggestions/ experiences with holding smaller-scale workshops.
Thank you again for the stunning performance.

Hey Giles! I loved your poetry, my favorite was “Woman”, cause it reminded me of my own mom. I was one of the two black girls who read their poetry in your second workshop. I quoted R. W. Emerson. Thank you so much for coming and I hope to have the pleasure of seeing you again, if not at Hotchkiss then perhaps elsewhere!
P.S. I agree with JJ, the blue shoes were wicked pissah.

I have a passion for poetry especially rap, so you made my day. Thank you very much for coming and I hope you had just as much as we did…
